Javert and the Violin by ThreshTheSky Javert and the Violin by ThreshTheSky
Commission for ~LesMisPhangirl

Javert from Victor Hugo's novel Les Misérables, as imagined by ~LesMisPhangirl. The violin and the specifics of his appearance come from her role-play/headcanon ideas for this character. The left-handedness was intentional and requested.

Thank you! ~LesMisPhangirl had to walk me through some of the details of the instrument since I don't play violin and I wanted to get them right.

I played violin when I was very little. I don't remember anything. Lol! But, I love to hear the violin! It is one of my favorite instruments! And, it looks like you did an amazing job with it! :D

I didn't know there was a left-handed version of the violin...I wonder if I would have done better with that...

Really like this piece, all the same. It's lovely!

*likes to lurk comments* There is, but they're hard to find, and I think you usually pay more for them too. Researching them for him, I only found one place online that makes much effort in selling violins for left handed people, or at least that showed up in the first page of results and had people talking about their left handed violins. Most left handed people just tend to end up learning the instrument on a right handed one. {Actually, the one RP!Javert owns was re-pegged and restrung because it was originally right handed, but yeah.}

Apparently there is. Do you play?

And thanks! It was interesting doing Les Mis as a commission.

Yes, I've been playing for nine years. I'm pretty mediocre for my level of experience though :)

It takes years before you don't sound like a dying cat, but it's quite fun, especially with Vivaldi and Bach's concertos and, of course, fiddle.

'scuse me while I sit here and casually shriek over the adorable that is my muse. And also thank you again and again because he turned out awesome and, oh my word, if I ever come up with anyone else I want commissioned, you get dibs {unless you're closed to commssions then :XD:}. *flails out*

My pleasure! I know how important he is to you, so it means a lot and makes me very glad that you're happy with the way he turned out. I'd love to work with you again if you're ever looking for another commission. :)

And by the by, you win the award for the largest number of references sent to me for one commission. :XD:

Yup. Sideburns is definitely important to me {whether he likes it or not ":doh:" *patpat* *swatted*}. I'm sure I'll probably be able to think up something else to commission in the future, either with Sideburns or commissioning something for a family member.

IDK if I should say "whoops" or "yay." lol I tend to collect fifty million references for things I'm drawing, especially if it's something I don't draw much, am not good at drawing, or don't think I can draw, so I had no idea how many references you'd appreciate having. :shrug:

I agree. I can't imagine Javert without sideburns regardless of the fact that not every version of him has them.

You should say "yay." I like working with whatever number of references someone decides to send me. It was just a fun fact I thought I'd share. :)
