Oh!
I just came from your portrait of student-disguised Éponine, and I am just amazed at your entire gallery!
I love the warm colors of this portrait (contrasting the cold, miserable life we see her having right before her death), and how Fantine looks to the Lord, doubting the forgiveness of the world (like in the lyric you quoted in the description).
A work of wonder, something to be envied.

Much appreciated! Thank you so much for the thoughtful comment. This panting is from long enough ago that I haven't thought about it much recently. But the bright colors to contrast with the bleakness of her life and death was definitely something I had in mind when I painting this. :D

It would be tasteless not to appreciate such a marvel! Congratulations!

It's a pity we didn't see more of Anne's character. She really hit it out of the ballpark.

That's true. I guess that's the weird thing about Fantine's role. She's a powerful and memorable character but isn't on screen/stage for very long. Which is interesting since her influence and the effects of her decisions and actions are felt long after she's passed on. :)

My dad said Anne's version of "I Dreamed a Dream" is the most beautiful one he's ever heard.

I said it took real talent to sing and cry at the same time. He added, "And be convincing."
