Listen. I don't mean to be awkward or cause a fuss, but I saw your Cosette piece and was like "Wow! Impressive! That looks just like a photo". Long story short, I looked at the reference pictures and layered them over your paintings and all the lines match up exactly. You clearly have a talent for painting, but all signs point to tracing, like you have one layer of the reference picture and you're painting over top so the proportions are all exact.

I can show you what I mean if you want me to put together some pictures.

But basically, if you just drew it freehand with the reference picture next to your painting, there would be some errors. Say, the ear would be a little high or the eye distance would be off or the nose would be tilted a little. That's just natural when drawing freehand. But your Cosette, Valjean and Javert paintings are all EXACTLY lined up (i layered them over each other) it's impossible for you to have drawn them freehand.

I'm not trying to attack you, so please don't be offended. I'm just saying that somebody will notice eventually and they might get upset. If you want to challenge me, I'd love you to prove me wrong! Just post your sketch stages or record a video of you doing the drawings and I'll shut up.

I actually don't mind people asking about this. And I know exactly what you mean when you say that placing the reference photo overtop of many of my paintings will match up. I've been very open in comments about the fact the I use grids on many of my paintings, especially the "photorealistic" ones, to get the proportions and likenesses exact. I also make no claims of having come up with the pose, lighting, or coloring myself. In fact, I openly invite people to make these comparisons in that I always post a link to the exact reference photo that I used.

So with all that said, I take no offense to your questions, nor do I see them as an attack. However, I will say that it bums me out a little bit when I get these kind of accusations/requests when I have a link to this information in the description of every painting that I post (including this one) as well as on my FAQs page and homepage. I also have occasionally posted WIPs in my scraps before a painting's final version is posted.

If the fact that I post my stages or WIPs for a few of my paintings but not every single one isn't good enough for some people, that's fine with me. Those people can just choose to not view my art. I prefer to spend my time making more drawings and paintings rather than making and posting tons of WIP progressions anyway.

Thanks :)
