any advice you could give me about textures and making things look as real as possible? like im having trouble with hair mostly and then clothing too. i cant make any texture other than smooth (airbrush) this was the best i could do but jadenseptum.deviantart.com/art…

I took a look at the deviation you linked me to and I think you're off to a good start. Since you said you're struggling with textures and realism, I'd recommend practicing building up more layers or varied colors and experimenting with the opacity settings of the brushes you're using. Introducing colors that you wouldn't normally think of when it comes to skin (pinks, yellows, greens, blues, etc.) instead of just varying shades of beige, tan, and brown will make your skin look more realistic and less flat. There are tons of awesome skin tutorials and swatch sets here on dA and elsewhere online.

Also check out some texture brushes that people have made and posted here on dA. Some digital artists don't like using them, but I find them helpful in creating textures, especially for clothing.

I already have a fur tutorial posted if you're interested. It's in the "Resources + Tutorials" folder in my gallery.

Good luck!
