Again, what a struggle to get this character! My characters seem to be giving everyone fits these days. LOL! But I have to tell you, this is terrific. Despite the beginning hiccups (which were certainly my fault), this really did turn out amazing. His look is spot-on. He has those smouldering, playboy eyes which is totally the character.
Thank you, again, my friend. Your work never ceases to amaze me and I'm always uber-excited to see one of my characters in your style.
I'm so relieved that you like it! And I'm glad that you're happy with the eyes. When I was redrawing the outline for the face reboot to look as much like Balzo as possible, the eyes were really what needed the most altering.
And it is funny how eyes make such a dramatic difference. I used to date this guy who was a caricature artist at Six Flags. He always would tell me the importance of making the eyes look right. He said no matter how he contorted a face in a caricature, as long as the eyes were close, people liked it. Have always taken that to heart.
Very true. They're the one thing about us that doesn't really change the way the rest of the face does as we age. I also find it interesting how the eyes remain identifiable even with prosthetics and extreme make up applied.
It's funny you said that, but I was studying the refs myself a few days ago and noticed that he has a very distinct shape of eyes. Though, I find it amazing how changing the color really does make a huge difference--and the hair color, too.
And I like it very much. I'm totally geeked to now have my core characters done by you! It's been an amazing journey and I love every one of them.
