My dear sweet Endorell-Taelos (https://www.deviantart.com/endorell-taelos) tagged me with this a while ago, and now I finally got time to reply back

Make a post to your DA journal. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a ______ icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("all I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV."). The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it

Protect yourself against fraud
Although, as an active member of the community, it's nearly impossible to have missed this huge issue, I think it's very important to warn people for this.
What happened is a large case fraud in which apparently one user (under multiple names) scammed several members of DeviantArt community. Leaving some people as much as $3000 in debt!!! Money they, most likely, never see back.
Even though the user is banned by DeviantArt now, there's no reason why it won't happen again.
After all, the problem is caused by a loophole in PayPal's rules. So basically everybody that's using PayPal for its business (and that's a lot of us) is at risk.
That in
For many artists, art theft is a frustrating reality. No matter how we watermark, logo, or constrain the resolution of our work, there are instances where artwork will be reposted, ripped, or used for commercial gain without credit or compensation. For some, this can be almost flattering, to know that there are those that like your work enough to steal it. But, the fact still remains, that your work has been used without permission, and for no gain of your own.
My ExperienceI have been a photographer for four years now, and throughout that time I am always learning. Part of that education is around copyright, and how to protect my work. The

The Truth About Selling Fanart
Update notice as of January 17, 2013: I have given this guide a MAJOR overhaul. It was originally written over a year and a half ago, and since then my own views and understanding of copyrights has changed. I felt that this guide should reflect those changes, so if you read this guide in the past, please take a moment to look through it again as I have added MANY new topics, information, and sources. Unlike my first draft, I have also changed my viewpoint to neutral throughout this writing.
Update notice as of July 17th, 2015: Check out DeviantArt's new article on art theft, fanart, copyrights, and other relevant topics! http://protectart.de

How to design a typeface (Part 1)Sans serif — Roman
In this article/tutorial I will show you how to design a typeface. I will cover the basics and show you how to design advanced letters as well. There is so much I can talk about though, so if people like this article I might expand on this with future articles and get more into detail. I will only cover the design though, so you will have to research how to do the spacing and programming and turn your typeface into a usable font—or wait until I might do an article on that as well, but I don’t have such an article planned anytime soon.
What will we design?
I will first sho

How to Avoid the REAL Hackers
Here's a message about a "hacker" that has been appearing in my inbox lately. I've added paragraph breaks so that it's easier to read, but I have edited nothing else.

One of the most encouraging things for me, being a part of DA, has been the ability to see the improvement and progress in other artists. And most of all, realizing that great artists all started out like you and me! At the same lowly beginner status. Is that not encouraging?!
But maybe you haven't realized this yet? XD I am amazed at the amount of discouraged deviant comments I read on DA. Especially under the work of great artists. "I will never draw that good." "I might as well quit.""My work sucks compared to this." And the most common: "I wish I could draw like this!"
Well, the good news is... you can! Yes, YOU! But, here is the catch.
Once again the monster that is Desktop Nexus, and its plethora of incredibly stupid members raises its ugly head again
It annoys me no end that I seem to have to send out reminders like this every year or so about this site which needs killing slowly and painfully by the fire of a thousand suns.
Its members are now trying a new tack of apparently "crediting" and saying they have permission from all of YOU, yes, even you lurking in the back row there - you have apparently given them permission to redistribute YOUR work on desktop Nexus as wallpapers.
I might add, that if you have actually been idiotic enough to give somebody permission to
