UPDATE 10/30/12

The commission sale is a go. I'll begin accepting slot reservations on the first of November. The opening of these slots will be announced in my next journal entry (on 11/1, obviously), which will contain the full "rules" of the sale. Slot reservations will be made in the comments of that journal entry (NOT in this journal's comments, through the note system, on my homepage comments, etc).

Also, a large volume of commissions seems to have come to fruition at almost the exact same time. So expect a lot of commission painting uploads today and this week.

•Commission Sale

I was thinking recently about how I would really like to hold a holiday contest with nice, shiny prizes as well as that there are possibly some people who would like to commission a painting from me who can't afford the fee.  For these two reasons, I'm thinking of holding a POINT commission sale in November.

For this event only, I'd be offering greyscale portraits like these…



...that usually cost ten dollars (or 800 dA points) for as low as 200 dA points each. Does this proposition interest anyone? If so, please let me know in the comments below so that I can ponder how many slots I'm going to make available.

Points raised from this sale will go to funding another one of my "no artistic abilities required" contests for which I plan to have one first-place winner and some runners-up (depending on how successful this "fund-raiser" is). I currently have enough points to fund the largest prize myself but would really like to have some spare points so that I can offer extra prizes in order to spread the holiday cheer a little further this December.

In short, if you're looking for a place to get a ridiculously affordable holiday gift commission, if you've thought about commissioning me in the past but couldn't afford it, or if you just have a measly 200 points lying around that you'd be willing to give to a fun "cause," then let me know now and keep an eye out for a journal entry next month announcing whether or not the commission sale is going down. Also, I haven't really been too keen on using the donation widget in the past, but I'll be putting one up specifically for the contest until it's over.

•dA Search Bug

None of my deviations posted after September 5th show up regardless of the search terms used. I know it sounds like a really narcissistic problem, but I know that as a deviant who produces a lot of fan art that this is a major way that I get traffic on my page. I went to open a support ticket on this issue, but it appears that it's a problem that's already posted in the Status Forum. [link] It's been there since July. Is anyone else having a problem with any of their deviations not appearing in search results?

•Brief PSAs

1) Election day is coming up on Tuesday, November 6. If you're an adult living in the United States, please remember to vote!
2) Now that cold weather has set in for most of the northern hemisphere, remember to bang on the hood of your car or honk the horn before starting your vehicle. Cats who are attracted to the warmth of the engine may fall asleep inside it and be seriously injured or killed if they don't leave before you turn your ignition key. An action that literally takes you a second to perform could save a life.
